Digital Technology

During the school year P4L offers 4 after school “Dig.Lit” program tracks: GRRL Tech (Girls Really, Really, Love Technology), Dig.Lit, The Code Squad and Games.Inc.
For 28-30 weeks each year students engage in weekly after school workshops and complete projects including coding and computer programming, building arduino controllers, working with raspberry pi, developing video games, web sites, news blogs, e-zines, digital photo stories, video shorts, PSA’s and digital infographics.  They also take tech-related field trips and learn from guest speakers in ICT fields.

Learning gains at the intersection of literacy and digital technology:

  1. Students gain ICT skills aligned with ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) standards: Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, Global Collaborator
  2. Students gain interests in future ICT related coursework and careers
  3. Students develop aspirations and expectations for success in high school, begin to prepare for college readiness and explore possible future careers.
