Ebonie Gadson is an alumna of our Dig.Lit program at Argyle Middle School and is now in her second year at Montgomery College. In the Spring of 2018 she will graduate with an Associate’s Degree in Information Systems and pursue a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Management. To date, she has been accepted at UMUC at the Universities at Shady Grove and is also applying to two other schools: The Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and The University of Maryland Baltimore County (Women in Technology program). Her dream is to become either a Systems Analyst or an IT Project Manager.

At Argyle Middle School, Ebonie was a standout for her determination, creative writing skills and affinity for web development and programming. When she went on to Einstein High School she continued to come back to Argyle as a volunteer assistant at Dig.Lit, helping younger students improve their writing and learn web development.
And, once she became a college student, P4L hired her to serve as an assistant at a summer STEM camp where she coached middle school students with physical computing projects.  For the current school year, she is an after school program assistant at the KIDS Tech program at Parkland Middle School, coaching students with graphic design, digital communications and media projects.

Ebonie is on her way to becoming a successful technology professional, thanks to the opportunities she has seized since she was a middle schooler. When asked why she chose Information Systems and what makes it worth the challenges, she said

“Learning something new and figuring it out… I love solving problems.”
